We’re not huge on trends here at Allis Interiors. Our motto has always been: if you love it, do it.
But…the predictions for where design is headed in 2026 makes me want to jump out of my chair–in the best way! Nostalgic, timeless, meaningful design is in, which just so happens to be where our heart has always been (and always will be).
Here’s what we’re most excited about when it comes to 2026 design trend predictions:
Curated Chaos Over Perfection
We love a beautifully styled shelf over here, but we’re expecting to see less of the perfectly polished vignettes. Instead, we’re going to see a bit more curated chaos–think gentle clutter, where loved items are front and center and no space looks too perfect or is too precious. Homes are meant to be lived in, after all.
Generic Is Out, Collected Is In
Elaborating on the above point, generic, mass-produced decorative items are out, while collections are in. Do you have some beautiful glassware that’s been collecting dust in the attic? Bring it out and go in search of more to add! Or, if you’ve been thinking about starting a collection, now is the time.
Connection & Craftsmanship
There is going to be a huge swing towards returning to true craftsmanship and artisanal items. Sure, you might not need anything more than an inexpensive storage piece for your laundry room, but, when it makes sense and when you can, go for a higher level of craftsmanship. Check out your local woodworkers, peruse antique stores, do some searching on Etsy, Chairish or 1st Dibs to find some unique, quality pieces.
Shopping in this way also creates more connection and community, particularly if you’re reaching out to a local artisan or searching through your neighborhood antique shop. People are craving connection these days and what a beautiful way to bring more into your life, by bringing these pieces together in your home.
Warmth, Warmth, and More Warmth
Gone are the days of cool-toned minimalist white. Warmth is in; think creamy white paint colors with warm yellow undertones. Going even further, moody and earthy colors are here to stay, along with one of our personal favorites: color drenching. And don’t forget about the fifth wall (your ceiling!) Painting the ceiling the same color as the walls creates a more moody, tone on tone aesthetic.
Meaningful & Empathetic Design
Spaces with personality and history are back (not that they ever left us over here). Filling your spaces with a small trinket you found while on vacation or an heirloom piece (large or small) that was passed down to you from your grandmother- this is where the magic happens in your home.
Final Thoughts
As you can see, we’re not focusing on which specific colors and wood tones will be “in” this year. We fully believe that, instead of using words like “vintage” or “mid -century modern” to describe your ideal space, start with how you want the space to feel. Layered. Meaningful. Warm. Earthy. Collected. Lived-in.
If you’re looking to incorporate any of the timeless design ideas above, but are not sure where to start, don’t fret. We’re here to help. We love taking client questionnaires, inspiration photos, and our time spent with our clients to help craft how they want their ideal space to feel and function. It’s what we do and we do it well.
